In line with fashion trends throughout the 20th century and 21st century, the standard for female body shapes has changed. Beauty standards were based on how people thought curves were acceptable. The stark differences in ideal female figures across decades tell much about the public’s opinion.
2017 is still a poor year despite several unsuccessful attempts to alter girls’ and women’s attitudes on their bodies via diets, medicines, and celebrity role models. They are nevertheless given our encouragement to compare themselves to others. Since the time when Wonder Bread and cigarettes were the newest cosmetic trends, a lot has changed.
